For one project, the team needed to create a long continuous shot that simulated a drone flying through the scene. The animation team wanted to lock the camera to a fixed flight path while still allowing the camera view to be controlled in a natural and organic way.
To support this workflow, I developed a small tool based on Unreal Engine’s VCam system. The tool allowed animators to use the iPhone’s gyroscope to control the camera rotation, while using a touchscreen UI to adjust the flight speed and camera zoom.
This gave the team a more intuitive way to direct the camera view during the shot, while keeping the overall camera movement constrained to the approved animation path.
